SMO plays Putty: Our first live concert in 2 years! 18/06/22
SMO braved the long drive from Sydney to Putty on a brisk and sunny Saturday afternoon to perform our first concert in over 2 years due to the lockdowns. After a delicious feast put on by the local committee we played two halves with a short interval.
The music included Stephen Lalor’s “Yiddisher Songs” and “Balmain Bossa”, and Kurt Schwaen’s “Four National Dances”, as well as some popular favourites “Lara’s Theme” from Dr. Zhivago and “Ballsirenen” from The Merry Widow. Wayne performed three pieces on his concertina backed by two mandolins and guitar. To finish the concert we paid tribute to John Goodin who passed away in 2021 by playing his “Heaven’s on Earth Suite”.
The concert was attended by enthusiastic locals and friends of the orchestra who joined us for the beautiful drive. SMO would like to thank the local organizing committee for hosting us and putting on a great event.
